As working moms, we’re stronger together
As a mom who has created several companies, I know for a fact that we can go further when we go together. I am so lucky to currently be running a business with my best friend (who is also a mom). With very busy lives already, we approached our new endeavor, PostBack.com (a platform that lets businesses rate and review their customers and clients), with open communication as our foundation. Neither one of us wanted to use our very precious time in a way that wasn’t getting us to our goals. We established our boundaries, outlined what we wanted to achieve, and talked about how we could actually make this work. You can read more about that on the PostBack blog: Best Friends and Business Partners… It Can Be Done!
I find that we are now even more mindful of our time and boundaries. Perhaps it’s like the old saying “you don’t know what you’ve got til it’s gone.” When I was a new mom, I realized how much I had taken the simple act of being able to sleep (and generally for as long as I pleased) for granted. Now, as a mom running businesses and doing all the life stuff that goes along with family, I wonder what exactly it was I was busy spending my abundant time on in my 20s and early 30s… Where is my great masterwork to come out of that segment of my life? No 800-page novel? No series of paintings? What the hell was I doing with all of those glorious self-dedicated hours?
I can daydream about having that much freedom and time now… but, I guess I am the person I am today because of what I allowed myself to explore and do back then. That said, give me 30 minutes and I will hustle through some serious shit these days. Watch out to-do list, I’m coming for ya!
As moms we HAVE to be able to communicate, plan, focus, and execute in the toughest environments:
“Mom, mom, mom…”
“hey, where’s my _____”
(insert alarm going off because it’s time to leave the house for someone’s practice for something)
With everything it takes to be a mom running a business and wo-manifesting your best, most fulfilling life, I think it’s important that we share what’s getting us through it all. That’s the intention behind this blog. Maybe you’ll find something here that makes one part of your day a little easier. I know that’s what I’m looking for, at least.
